Quinine sulfate dihydrate in perchloric acid was one of the first reference materials developed to qualify the spectral response of a spectrofluorometer over 375 to 675 nm; it is supplied in 10 mm far UV quartz fluorometer cuvettes with polished faces at 90°. The ultra high purity water reference determines the spectrofluorometer signal to noise near the limit of detection. The cyclohexane reference qualifies the Raman shift wavelength scale between 380 and 3000 cm-1, sealed in a 10 mm quartz cuvette.
