Friability drums are designed for testing the rolling and impact durability of tablets; a single curved baffle lifts the tablets and drops them through approximately 156 mm. Premature fracture or edge wear indicates the tablets may not withstand transport. An abrasion drum 20 cm in diameter with several baffles is available as an option for attrition tests.
