FEDGAS are biorelevant dissolution media simulating gastric fluids after an FDA high-fat meal. 900 mL of FEDGAS contains the 62.5 g of fat present in the high-fat FDA meal, and the pH values 6, 4.5 and 3 reflect the early, mid and late stages of stomach emptying. They are used in standard USP 1 and 2 apparatus; one bottle of gel plus buffer concentrate makes 6 L of medium. According to the manufacturer page they offer excellent discriminatory power for neutral, basic or acidic BCS Class 2 drugs. A smaller 110 g gel bottle is available.
